Movie Sunday: The Silence
Movie Sunday: The Silence
I recently watched “The Silence” starring Stanley Tucci, Kiernan Shipka, and Miranda Otto on Netflix and found myself pleasantly surprised. As an avid reader and movie watcher I enjoy when I get the feeling that I am drawn into a book or a movie. “The Silence” is in the same family has “The Happening” and “Bird Box”. Like “The Happening” you know from the beginning what the characters are up against and get to see how they adapt and overcome. Unlike in “Bird Cage” where the movie left out the most important detail. Perhaps it was an attempt to pull off a Hitchcock type of film where your own imagination provided the scariest part of the movie (Which I like.). Fact is that it didn’t work for me and left me confused as to what was going on.
I would give “The Silence” 9 out of 10 stars. The characters were believable, the creatures were the type I like to see and like to write about, and the story drew me in for the entire movie. Not once did I look on with dread wondering how much longer until the end.
