Imagination gone wild?

Imagination gone wild?

Yesterday, I had a choice to go outside and cut the grass (AGAIN!!), binge watch something, or write for a while. Since I haven’t written anything for over a week, I decided to sit down and write. Usually I listen to streaming music or one of my playlists on my phone while I write. Yesterday for whatever reason I didn’t. Keep in mind that my current WIP is a horror story…

So, I am deep into writing and I hear footsteps in our kitchen downstairs. Didn’t think much of it and kept writing. Then I hear it again! I stopped writing and stared up at the ceiling, because for some reason the answers can always be found up there. (My only excuse for doing it lol) I was trying to tell if I was just hearing one of the dogs or cats. Geno weighs in around one hundred and forty pounds and Roxy about sixty pounds. If they are horsing around, it could be them. No, it was the very distinctive sound of boots or high healed shoes crossing the tile in the kitchen. Couldn’t be my wife, she had texted me a few minutes earlier about a job she was working on at work. I know she tends to have a lead foot but there was no way she made it home that fast. Then it happens again! So, if someone is in the kitchen walking around, they would have to know me. Otherwise, why aren’t my dogs going nuts on them? Yes, my dogs are spoiled rotten and babied because to me they are family. BUT, they have one job for all of the awesome treatment they receive, guard the house and keep strangers on the outside looking in.

No answers come from the time-honored staring at the ceiling, so I stop writing and put my big boy pants on. It’s time to go downstairs and see what’s happening in my kitchen. Charging down like a silverback gorilla protecting his band, I storm into the kitchen to find… no one! The dogs and now the cats who were sleeping on the island are now looking at me like I have had a mental breakdown. The AC was on, so all doors and windows are locked, so no trace of anything or any way in. Maybe I was to into the story I was writing…
